Meet the Characters: Braelus

Abandoned as a Dawnborn infant at the storied Morning Glory Cockpits, BRAELUS, the “Red Rooster,” began life with the clash of steel and deafening cheers of the arena as his lullabies.

Raised amongst gladiators, Braelus thrived under this unconventional upbringing, mastering the arts of combat and weaponry. As a mere spring chicken, he secured his status as a legend in the making after facing Galyut, a towering Flameborn giant, armed with nothing but a set of golden bolas and a twinkle in his eye. The crowd and his fellow gladiators watched in astonishment as the boy decisively beheaded the giant, proving it’s not the size of the fighter, but the rhythm of his dance.

As he matured, Braelus became the darling of the arena, wildly adored for his ruggedly handsome features, blazing pompadour and unmatched prowess in cock fights that left fans clucking for more. Despite persistent rumors of performance-enhancing drugs, his charisma, showmanship and tendency to spare challengers with a playful wink won him flocks of swooning “hens.”

Soon enough, his image adorned everything from armor polish to breakfast cereals; including a feather-ruffling fashion underwear campaign for Hen & Malay (H&M). Though his fame soared, he remained humble, grounding himself with morning prayers to Zupa and steadfast loyalty to his adopted gladiator family.

But beyond the arena’s roar, a storm brewed. The escalating conflict between Dawnborn and Duskborn elves called Braelus to greater duty. Appointed High General of the Dawnborn Republic during the Brewed Awakening War, he led troops with honor and valor, masterfully wielding Yerru, the Dawnsabre. This legendary astra granted him the power of dawn’s light, blinding foes and gifting him ethereal wings.

Yet despite his victories in the arena and on the battlefield, a prophecy by Seer Gamayu loomed ominously: the Republic’s downfall would come by his hand. But Braelus, ever the master of the dance, intends to sidestep destiny itself, proving fate a most unworthy opponent.
