Ask a Blue Barramundi the meaning of wisdom, and they’ll point upstream, toward GANGA the Wise. Her reputation flows through the Earthborn tribe like hidden currents beneath the surface: shaping everything, noticed by some, fathomed by few.

Born under the sacred current of the Bhujaga River and “touched” by Souza, the Pūka god of Nature, Ganga was apprenticed to Sonali the Dungseer; a fraud whose omens ran as shallow as her bones.

Where Sonali conjured hope from clever tricks and glamours, Ganga glimpsed the actual future, though her knack for unsettling truths won her about as many admirers as last season’s river leeches.

Her visions, from perfect hunts to infernos on the horizon, were politely ignored until Ganga saved her entire tribe from fire giants; half out of prophecy, half out of everybody’s sudden desire not to become Flameborn appetizers.

“When the great terror dreams, darkness will swallow the sky, and the holy river will boil as Pavitra Teela burns. First consumed by flame, then by hunger’s teeth. Five beasts will wander the ruins, quarreling among cinders. Still, hope shall flutter upon borrowed wings”

She is the only “Wisdom” to become a chief, though many consider her more therapist than leader. Ganga’s gifts both unnerve and enthrall: she hears whispers in the wind and sends rumors further, reads omens in bones and the flight of locusts, the curl of dung, or ripples in the river. And she always, always knows if you’re lying.

When the cosmos demands, she falls into trances, witnessing visions of the past, present and future, often awakening to find half her tribe wondering if they should take cover now or later. Even great chieftains tread lightly, unsure whether Ganga’s cracking a joke or reading their fate in pangolox entrails.

Kind but frequently distant, Ganga walks the fine line between oracle and outcast, sharing truths only when the winds, and her patience, allow. While her counsel has saved the Blue Barramundi countless times, her knack for secrecy and damming her own feelings means her legend grows even as her tribe’s nerves steadily fray.

And, if you must ask her to read your future, be careful; especially about that recurring dream where you arrive to work with no clothes. Some secrets, even Ganga prefers to leave downriver.
