Meet the Characters: Maduta
“I offer the cosmos gentle repose, and Spooka opts for a mortal who can’t eat peanuts.”
– Maduta, Goddess of Death
The goddess of death with a zest for life, the pūka MADUTA (formerly known as “Duta”) lives for center-stage moments in a cosmic soap opera she stars in daily; where mortals and gods alike find themselves bedazzled and bewildered by her undeniable charm, menacing displays of power and overwhelming stench.
Yet, beneath her enchanting humanoid facade, over-the-top theatrics and gallons of perfume, the chipskunk Maduta is a tormented social butterfly whose quest for applause, adoration and love leaves Magonia in fits of laughter, chaos and… at times, violent death.
Though she wields the fearsome Stinkscythe astra and spits tarry death that melts foes into messy puddles, deep down, at depths as dark as the void she governs, she’s just looking for a bit of love; her adopted and coddled human son Bolivar knows this all too well.
In a world that cruelly reminds her she can only deal in death, Maduta’s whims are many, her tantrums legendary, and her need for admiration and perfume? Insatiable.
